All Tolvanen OM Acoustics are hand-made from the highest quality tonewood. The top, back and sides are all made from solid timber. You have a choice of full mahogany, full koa, solid spruce top and solid rosewood back and sides or a combination of any of these timbers. For example, you can have a koa top with mahogany back and sides or a spruce top with koa back and sides. All bindings are also made from timber. Even the rosette is made from timber. Inlays are real MOP or real abalone. Necks are made from mahogany or maple or combinations of these timbers for extra strength. Fretboards are made from rosewood. High quality machine heads such as Gotoh are used. K+K Pure Mini pickup installed as standard. These boutique USA pickups are the BEST I have heard. They produce the sweetest natural tone of the acoustic guitar.

The Tolvanen OM Acoustic comes to me as completed shell and I finish off the fretwork, bridge, nut and electrical work. I am also responsible for the full set-up. In other words, every guitar passes through me. It doesn’t go out until I am satisfied that it is in brilliant condition as far as tone, appearance and of course playability are concerned. These guitars have a wonderful low action without sacrificing tone. If I were to build this guitar from scratch, it would set you back between $3500-$4000. However, because I have been able to drastically reduce my labour costs by outsourcing I am able to sell it to you for much less.

As many of you are aware, I also repair guitars. I have worked on numerous very expensive acoustics over the years. The Tolvanen OM Acoustic stands up to any of these guitars and quite frankly, it absolutely kills many of them for tone and playability….and they cost thousands more.

1. Tolvanen Guitars

The Tolvanen Rapture is an international quality guitar that I designed in conjunction with guitar legend, Rex Goh. That's Rex on the right working out on the Rapture "live". You can hear him playing a solo on the Rapture in the Sounds section. Available in both twin humbucker and P90 configurations.

The Tolvanen JN316 is my "Swiss Army Knife" guitar. It was designed for versatility. It is capable of pulling all of the classic single coil tones but with added warmth and body. Perfect for the working musician both "live" and as the "go to" studio guitar. Great for just about any musical style ranging from rock, to blues to pop. It is especially good as a country guitar, particularly if you are looking for a guitar with country "bite" but without brittle harshness. ***Attention Country Pickers!!! The JN316 is the guitar for you!***

The Bigsby option adds even more character ansd sonic options.

The mighty Tolvanen Rapture was developed in conjunction with Australian guitar legend, Rex Goh. This guitar went through a number of prototypes before it reached this point and ended up as our flagship model (along with the JN316). Rex is only satisfied with the absolute best and we believe that the Tolvanen Rapture is an international quality instrument that will satisfy the most discerning players. Besides utilising the absolute best tone woods, the Tolvanen Rapture is fitted with 2 handwound Mick Brierley humbuckers or P90s that really sing!

The Rapture is a truly beautiful instrument that sounds as good as it looks. With its 2 piece mahogany body (with a maple cap) plus a mahogany neck and select rosewood fingerboard, the Rapture has all the essential elements that are the cornerstones of tone and playability. The hand wound, Mick Brierley pickups are a perfect match providing, warmth, definition and body. A recent addition is the lightweight, aluminium tailpiece. This has added even more presence and definition to the overall Rapture sound. Thanks for the tip, Rex! With a two piece mahogany body and vintage, hand-wound, Australian-made pickups by Mick Brierley, this guitar really sings. Match it up with a neck as smooth and straight as you will ever find and you have the ultimate in tone and playability. Great for rock, pop and jazz. Brilliant for all you country chick'n pick'n guitarists who want the classic "bite" but with added depth, definition and warmth. No thin or brittle sounds here!
